Ankh Wall Piece

Ankh was made in two stages with nearly ten years between. Originally made as a structural line frame in a soft silver steel finish. As a minimal line frame the piece had a generally African sensibility.

Years later I added the surrounding plates with a combination of a blue tinted polyurethane over stainless finish, and 23k gold leaf. After these treatments were added, the sensibility became much more Egyptian in look and feel. The central vertical (recessed) area is coated in black resin, with a sprinkling of Swarovski cut crystals.

The helmet head is textured steel with gold leaf accents.
